Frequently Asked

Standard zones are usually free on official public holidays, similar to Fridays. Blue Zones generally remain paid unless a specific exemption is announced. The safest approach: check the physical sign near your parking spot, which is updated for each holiday.

Blue Zone signs have a distinctive blue background with white text. They're posted at every entry point to the zone. You can also use the Digital Sharjah app — open the map view, tap your location, and it shows the zone type and live rate.

Sharjah Municipality does not publish a formal grace period. Wardens operate throughout the day, so it's best to top up promptly. If you receive a fine, you can dispute or pay it through the Digital Sharjah app within 30 days.

SMS payment via 5566 works for UAE-registered plates on local SIMs. Visitors with overseas plates or foreign SIMs are better served by parking meters or the app. Meters accept most major credit cards.

Information current as of January 2026. Always verify against the sign closest to your vehicle — zone boundaries and rates are subject to change by Sharjah City Municipality without notice.
